Vedya Spurthi Konda (California)


Vedya Spurthi Konda had her formative and foundational training under Guru Smt. Himabindu Challa and now pursues advanced training at the ShivaMohanam institute of Kuchipudi, primarily under Smt. Padmavani Mosalikanti. Vedya Spurthi has also performed in numerous traditional Kuchipudi ballets, and presented solo performances in the US, India, and Mexico.

She is a 2017 National YoungArts Foundation Winner, a 2018 IndianRaga Kuchipudi Fellow, and the 2018 Saptami Foundation National 1st prize winner in Kuchipudi. In addition, she has learned Carnatic Music from Guru Smt. Jayashree Varadarajan for 10 years, and holds a certificate from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University in Telugu Language. Vedya Spurthi also has a diploma in Kuchipudi from the University of Silicon Andhra, a senior certificate in Kuchipudi from SAMPADA and Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, and is currently a part of the Apprenticeship Program by the Alliance for California Traditional Arts under the mentorship of Surabhi Bharadwaj.

She is a 3rd year undergraduate student at Santa Clara University studying Computer Science and Art History.
